Rookley shares crooked, ambient-infused cut, ‘Melatonin’

Rookley — Melatonin

Rookley is the alias of a mysterious New York-based artist who has just released his debut single, ‘Melatonin’.

The track is taken from his forthcoming EP, ‘Weak or Absent Signals’, which will be released in October via newly founded label AIMEND.

A cacophony of styles and influences, ‘Melantonin’ is hard to pin down stylistically as a crooked grooves rub shoulders with ethereal vocal snatches. Dig a little deeper and the track seems to occupy the ground between hazy ambient-infused electronica and cragged-sounding house.

According to the press release, ‘Melatonin’ is the product of “a night without sleep, and the exacerbated rhythm of the creative working process”.
