M83 announced a huge tour a couple of months ago with one key component missing: the actual music. Today the French producer finally delivered some new music with the rather muddled ‘Do It, Try It’, alongside details of the album which is called ‘Junk’.
“I want to show different sides of me on this album. I want to come back with something more intimate, yet somehow with…less me!,” explains Gonzalez via a press release.
And we totally agree – it’s not very M83-ish. But M83 is in there amongst the PC Music excess and sometimes bizarre production on Gonzalez’s vocals – but stick with it and it does all come together in places, and when it does it’s every bit as exciting as anything on ‘Hurry Up Were Dreaming’. It’s just a shame they’ve employed a 14-year-old to do the artwork.
M83 has also announced a North American tour and worldwide Festival dates including special performances at Latitude Festival in the UK, the renowned Coachella festival in Indio, CA, The Governor’s Ball in NYC, and Way Out West in Sweden. Tickets are available now via ilovem83.com. Full tour dates below.
