Kris Menace is the type of producer that manages to straddle commercial success with underground sensibilities – he’s like a musical badger. An underground entity, that doesn’t mind going outside to catch some rays and see what’s popping.
His latest release on Steve Angello’s Size Matter’s, see’s Mr Menace on cruise control – you know almost immediately that you’re in for a treat.
From the first moment you hear ‘Phoenix’ you know it’s one of Menace’s finer pieces of house music – a slow burner at the beginning, with ethereal synths drawing you in – couple that with some melodic textures and it all sounds like music made with emotion, soul and heart. Then of course a nasty kick joins in to make a track that wouldn’t go unnoticed in any club across the world – mature and mesmerising in equal measure.

On ‘Triangle’ Kris serves up seven minutes of driving bleeps, beeps and bass – topped off with an increasingly epic synth line that crowds would lose themselves in amongst the smoke and lights of the dance floor.

Kris Menace once again shows he knows what he’s doing – two tracks poles apart, but yet share the same DNA backbone of well produce 4-on-the-floor dance music. And with new music with DJ Pierre and Rex The Dog – were sure the ‘Badger’ will be centre stage in 2011 yet again.
