There’s a headline you probably didn’t think you’d ever read, but ‘Rectum’ is indeed a track from the legendary Thomas Bangalter.

It’s actually a track from a soundtrack that Bangalter scored in the early 2000s, called Irréversible.

The soundtrack was released on Bangalter’s Roulé imprint in 2002, and featured a range of tracks from the ambient nothingness of ‘Rectum’ (above) to more body-shaking cuts like ‘Outrun’ and ‘Ventura’ (below).

Irréversible was actually a hugely controversial film when it came out – it followed the events of a traumatic night in Paris as the beautiful Alex is brutally raped and beaten by a stranger in the underpass, but in reverse chronological order. It was so brutal a lot of people walked out of cinemas halfway through due to the distressing themes of the film.
