Du Tonc are not French

Du Tonc are Matthew Haymes and Matt Van Schie who have credits with the likes of Van She, Mighty Mouse and Tear Council to their name. They met by chance in the smokey Parisian basement of Social Club. Their debut single ‘Darkness’ shot them into the limelight and has since been featured in the Hollywood movie ‘Entourage’ and they are former Hype Machine ‘ones to watch’.

Caught up? Good. But there’s more

Now one of 2017’s biggest disappointments was the lack of Du Tonc’s debut album. Well, according to Mr Haymes the duo’s new album is now finished and the reason for the delay? Simple: they didn’t want to release something they both didn’t love.

“We’ve just finished writing the album, it’s taken a while but we don’t like to rush. We agreed we’d never release anything we both don’t love. I guess you could say we are picky about what we release, but that means we only release music that comes from the heart. High definitely comes from the heart.”

Time for the music

The duo has a new track out and it’s just the sort of gleeful music the world needs right now. Better still it’s the first track in which the duo have enlisted a collaborator in the form of the excellent Jenny McCullagh from I Know Leopard fame on backing vocals.

All-in-all we’re very excited to hear their debut album in 2018 because — let’s be honest — we’ve waited long enough.
