Aeroplane returns with his first production of 2017 — and it’s a real statement of intent from the Belgium-based DJ and producer.
Sounding like a long-lost cut from Solar Records circa 1984, ‘Love On Hold’ features impeccable attention to detail for a track that’s a heady blend of disco, funk and boogie.
For an added layer of disco authenticism, Aeroplane’s Vito De Luca managed to track down the iconic voice of Tawatha Agee, who agreed to add her vocals to the track.
She is widely regarded as one of the greatest backing vocalists in the world, having sung alongside the likes of Luther Vandross, Kashif and David Bowie to name just a few, but she is also the voice of legendary funk band Mtume, singing on their 1983 classic ‘Juicy Fruit’, which was then sampled and became the basis of Notorious B.I.G’s breakout track ‘Juicy’.
Combining Aeroplane’s exquisite disco composition with Tawatha’s richly textured vocals makes ‘Love on Hold’ a unmissable disco cut for fans of authentic-sounding disco.
‘Love On Hold’ is out March 24 via Glitterbox/Defected.
