Earlier this month The Weeknd posted a picture to his instagram of two Daft Punk figurines sat on a speaker in a studio. Nothing particularly exciting there. But today, a video has emerged where Wendy Goldstein, the EVP A&R for Republic Records, states to Billboard Magazine that both The Weeknd and Daft Punk are in the studio together.

Speaking about artists collaborating, Goldstein said: “We have a session coming up in two days […] with The Weeknd and Daft Punk. I’ve always been a massive Daft Punk fan, so this is the first time that I’m actually involved with an artist who is actually going to go work with them.”

It would appear with today’s news, The Weeknd was actually dropping a huge hint with his picture that himself and Thomas Bangalter and Guy Manuel de-Homem Christo are indeed making music together.

Whether it’s for The Weeknd’s new album, or potentially a new Daft Punk album nobody knows yet. But this is the first major hint that Daft Punk are back in the studio since 2013’s ‘Random Access Memories’.
