David Bowie’s 28th studio album, ‘Blackstar’ is set to drop on January 8, and today the British legend delivered a mesmerising 10-minute video to accompany the album’s title track.

The track itself is ten minutes of tempo shifts, jazz percussion and flute flourishes, which on the face of it doesn’t sound all that appealing – but in reality comes together quite marvellously, especially alongside the creepy video.

David Bowie is said to have recruited a raft of jazz musicians including saxophonist Donny McCaslin, guitarist Ben Monder and the pianist Jason Lindner for the album’s recording.

Speaking about the album’s direction compared to his last album, 2013’s ‘The Next Day’, Tony Visconti, the album’s producer, told Mojo, “’The Next Day’ started out trying to do something new, but something old kept creeping in,” he said. “Not this album.”
