Punks Jump Up have today announced that they’re starting their own label, Muzik Box, which is inspired by Chicago club night of the same name hosted by DJ Ron Hardy.
According to the duo, “Hardy’s complete disregard for musical barriers, mixing up European electronic music with disco resulted in the birth of a whole new genre: House.”
Punks Jump Up plan to bring together “a collective of forward-thinking young producers and well-known dance luminaries releasing under secret guises”.
We’ve got the first play of the first release from Monday Club, which as you probably already know consists of former Cosmonaut, Paul Sidoli and Medicine 8’s, Luke May.
Having impressed with releases on VIVA music, Black Butter Records and Alive Recordings, Monday Club return with a new version of their track ‘Lewis’; a throwback house record that references the best of the 90s and early Chicago house with a modern twist.
Alongside the original, there’s dub and club versions too, whilst modular synth don Martin Dubka, aka Dubka, is on hand to finish off the release in suitable analogue fashion.
Out June 15.
