A few months ago we posted a track from mysterious French duo My Dear, who described themselves as an experienced French producer and his wife, Blanche.
Well as you could imagine, ‘Standing In This Dream‘ stood out a mile in our inbox, I think I even said it had a Kavinsky charm to it. Like a summery version of ‘Nightcall‘ if you will.
Anyway, today the duo dropped the video for the song, and low-and-behold it has been produced by Daft Punk’s in-house production company, Daft Arts.
So what’s My Dear’s connection to Daft Punk? Well it turns out when My Dear is in fact Raw Man, aka Romaine Seo, who according to Discogs, released a couple of records for Guy-Man’s Crydamoure and was also one-half of the Buffalo Bunch which featured Guy-Man’s brother Paul de Homem-Christo.
Anyway, ‘Standing In This Dream‘ sounded great a few months ago, and obviously sounds even better with the new video which features Seychelle Gabriel.
Interestingly the track’s main rasping synths bears a striking resemblance to the ones you find in Kavinsky’s ‘Nightcall‘, which Guy-Man produced. So it begs the question has Guy-Man had a hand in this too? Apparently, there’s also a tiny sample of ‘Something About Us‘ in there, too.
