Out at the end of the month on Berlin-based Dirt Crew’s new sister label SPIEL, Clancy’s debut EP ‘What You Do’ sees the producer take a trip to the darker side of House, swapping his Indie Dance roots for a taste of deep Nu-Disco.
The EP’s title track ‘What You Do’ delivers the kind of big, bold club vibes we’ve been hotly anticipating from the Manchester born producer, featuring a production-perfect reverberating bass we just can’t wait to hear blasting from a funktion one.
Clancy continues to deliver in the deep and melodic department through out the rest of the EP, with ‘Giving You Up’ a dulcet and driving late night delight and ‘Nobody Else’ which fuses an echoing, emotive vocal with a subtle and distinctly Housey piano sample.
The whole package is neatly complimented by an edit from Norwegian Disco Master Prins Thomas, whose boppy space age take on the ‘What You Do’ provides an unexpected diversion from the EP’s distinctly Deep House direction.
With another EP set to drop in November and a rumoured remix of the Magician’s new single in the pipeline, Clancy’s rise to full-scale stardom seems all but inevitable. And we for one, can’t wait.
