It has been a little under a year since ATTAR! released his last original ‘Folivora Parade’ but the Belgian producer has been far from idle. Known for his expertly crafted remixes of Citizens!, The Gossip, Adamski and others, his latest EP deviates from his normally playful nu-disco approach to favour a funky deep house flavour.

The opening single ‘The Fool’ features the vocals of Cherry set against a heavy bassline and adds slinky Italo-disco effects to create the perfect deep house-disco hybrid.

Newcomer Pete Oak remixes the track to bring the sinister hypnotic synths to the forefront while laying thick reverb on the vocals, it’s almost certainly the dark-horse of the bunch.

The B-side track ‘Colibri’ introduces squelchy chord progressions reminiscent of Todd Terje’s ‘Inspector Norse’ to round out the entire EP.

‘The Fool’ is an impressive an opening gambit from ATTAR! on his new home Eskimo records, and we can’t wait for more.

Out on Eskimo Recordings June 24
