If there’s a harder working disco outfit than Mighty Mouse we’ve yet to meet them. Over the last couple of year’s we’ve had everything from a concept album to his Disco Circus compilation alongside countless edits, remixes and mixtapes.

Well, the hard work has paid off as Mighty Mouse has now signed to Cheap Thrills which means we should see even more productions over the next year or two.

Today MM release his ‘Disco Battles 2’ EP – a four-tracker that looks to turn the heat up on his usually psychedelic disco – it’s more club-orientated as see’s MM produce 4 tracks that are sure to see a lot of club action over the summer months.

First up is ‘Rocket’ and from the moment the kick slaps you across the face you know you’re listening to a new breed of Mighty Mouse – it’s a harder, brasher and more to the point than anything we’ve heard from him before. It’s the musical equivalent of Vieux Boulogne.

‘Kids In Space’ continues the harder side of MM disco productions – it’s more psychedelic than ‘Rocket’ but it’s brought down a notch with the chatty synth hook, the apr’d basslines and etheral strings. Another home-run, and is being given away as a freebie too.

Can he go for a hat trick? You bet he can, ‘Moments In Space’ is a slightly darker take on the club disco that has come before it – it’s, again, based on some stonkingly solid drums then layered with multiple futuristic synths until you’re physical dripping with Moog from ear to ear.

Our favourite is ‘Electric Moonshine’ it takes a classic Ibiza chill out track and then moulds it around a disco back-beat to create an enchanting 4am nugget of disco gold.
