The Banger is back! After Digitalism rather lacklustre new album – it’s great to see, and hear, the German duo get back to their roots with some new material for their DJ Kicks mix CD.
So far we’ve had two new tracks; the first is ‘A New Drug’ which is so 2007 you’d be fooled into thinking we’re not in recession – it’s full of driving drums, caustic synths and harks back to their electro/rock aesthetic. Granted it’s a little one dimensional – but at least its not limp-wristed indie. Free download from here.
Today they unveiled another track that features on the mix, called ‘Simply Dead’, it is probably their finest work since Idealism – it does away with almost any melody, vocals and just concentrates on trying to mash your brain with stuttering drums, abrasive synths and more compression than the human head can take – it’s a banger in every sense of the word.
Welcome back guys.
Bonus Round: Be sure to check out their spacial remix of Who Made Who’s ‘Inside World’.
