London disco duo Cosmonauts have just released their latest single ‘Stardust’ on their own imprint SuperTrooper. Disco seems to be going two ways at the moment: there’s the tropical summery vibe a la Plastic Plates, then there’s a more forward-thinking electro style which acts like Peter & The Magician have been touting.

Well, Cosmonauts are looking to bring these contrasting styles under one broad church. With ‘Stardust’ you get that in-your-face synth line straight out of an electro track, but then London duo serve it up on a bed of gleaming synths, chatty arpegieos and tasteful vocals.

The EP comes with a wide range of remixes to accommodate almost all tastes’. You’ve got a deeper, thumping house cut from Kolombo, an acid-infused funk remix from Linntronix and then a darker remix from Justin Robertson, who surgically takes out the warm analog textures and reworks the entire track with a darker, more caustic palette.

HBF Rating 4/5
