Young French electro chappy Neus has got 2 new EPs out, we featured him several times, and we still don’t know much about him except we’ve found out he’s called Gael Neus, figures really. He probably likes to let his music do the talking – just how we like it.
But boy does it speak – on the level of a very large and loud french town cryer, although this time it’s a more measured voice – but ticks all the boxes for us, maybe he’s got a soar throat. It’s banging but with a healthly dollop of musicality.
Opening track ‘Enjoy Your Life’ is that standard snappy french electro we love -more than a wink to Seb and Xavier – but wrapped in Neus paper.
‘Don’t stop breathing’ is a whole lot more moodier, introvert and haunting. We’re lovely this more mature Neus. We sure you do too. Just wait for the 8-bit breakdown.
Then we have another EP not sure why – but we for one are not complaining, the opening track is a more of a future french touch tip – more rhythm and repetition makes for a good contrast – throw in some plump bass and over-the-top synth hook and it’s certainly dancefloor fodder.
‘Shades’ continues the touch feel of the last track – more shuffling and less in your face and the most musical of the bunch. A dark horse if you ask us.
We think Neus is maturing into a multi discipline producer adepts at bangers, shufflers, swingers, just anything he wants to do – definitely one to watch for.
HBF Rating 8/10
And to top that he’s done an amazing remix of Siriusmo’s ‘Feremonikon’ – grab it now and enjoy.
