Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ Passes Million Sales Mark, Took Just 69 Days

Despite this week’s rather lacklustre reception to their remix of ‘Get Lucky’, Daft Punk will be celebrating tonight as their current single has now sold one million copies in the UK.

‘Get Lucky’ is the fastest selling single of 2013 so far, and reached the million mark in just 69 days, and sees the French duo join an illustrious list of 136 artists who have sold 1 million singles in the UK.

Interestingly the duo are only the second French act to sell a million singles in the UK, the other being David Guetta unfortunately.

As well as being Daft Punk’s first UK number 1 single, it’s also the first number 1 single for Nile Rodgers amazingly.

Nile Rodgers said: “The fact that Get Lucky has sold a million copies in the UK is one thing, but to do it in 69 days?! I’m awestruck.

“When I think how it happened, too, with people who I like a lot, that we just decided to go into the studio and do something… And then it turns out like this? It’s absolutely remarkable, because no-one was prepared for this,” he gleefully added.
