[Update] You can now watch the video for Jamiroquai’s comeback single ‘Automaton’.
On ‘Automaton’ Jay Kay comments, “The inspiration for Automaton is in recognition of the rise of artificial intelligence and technology in our world today and how we as humans are beginning to forget the more pleasant, simple and eloquent things in life and in our environment including our relationship with one another as human beings.”
Written and self-produced by Jay Kay and Jamiroquai keyboard-maestro Matt Johnson, ‘Automaton’ will be available for release on 31st March via Virgin EMI.
[Original story] Having teased their return last week with a sci-fi-infused teaser trailer, Jamiroquai has today confirmed both the full ‘Automaton’ tracklist and the album’s release date, which is set for March 31.
The first track to be taken from the album is going to be released at midnight tonight UK time and will be previewed on BBC Radio 2 tonight at 8pm GMT via the Joe Whiley show.
The title track has been subject to a lot of speculation with regards to who might have produced it, if anyone, at the moment both Daft Punk and Soulwax have been mooted as possible producers given the track’s synth-wave electro aesthetic. But at the moment that’s just rabid speculation.
