2016 probably won’t be remembered as a vintage year for electronic music if you go off today’s Grammy Awards nominations for Best Dance Recording and Best Electronic Album.

It’s not all doom and gloom, though, Australian beatsmith Flume has been given the nod in both categories for his album, ‘Skin’, and for his breakout single ‘Never Be Like You’.

Elsewhere, Tycho’s excellent album ‘Epoch’ has been nominated alongside Underworld’s ‘Barbara Barbara, We Face A Shining Future’, Jean-Michel Jarre’s ‘Electronica 1: Time Machine’, and Louis Vega’s ‘Staring XXVIII’.

Singles-wise, well, UK production don Riton has been given the nod for his excellent club smash ‘Rinse & Repeat’, alongside The Chainsmokers (really?), Bob Mose’s ‘Tearing Me Up’ and Sofi Tukker ‘Drinkee’.

Don’t be surprised if Flume walks away with at least one win.
