YACHT’s sex tape leaks online, duo decides to sell it themselves *Updated*

Update: So it turns out this whole debacle has been a PR stunt – according to Jezebel the duo had been pitching the stunt to one of their colleagues a few month ago.

“For the upcoming music video for our song, “I Wanna Fuck You Til I’m Dead,” we’re faking a sex tape leak.

In the days leading up to the video’s release, we’re going to pretend we were hacked, share and delete confessional social media posts on the subject of our privacy, then try to “get out in front of it” and sell the sex tape, fake a server crash, etc.

Yacht’s PR representative have distanced themselves from the stunt stating they had no idea about it, and was done 100% without them.

Electronic duo Yacht have taken the brave decision to sell their private sex tape online after it was stolen and leaked online.

The duo explained in a lengthy post to their Facebook page – which details their struggle as a “middle-level band” – that they’ve decided to take control of the situation and sell the tape online themselves.

Admitting that they have no control over the release, they will be selling this sex tape for $5, asking those who want to see it not to stream it or download it illegally.

So if you’re a bit of a weirdo you can watch Yacht’s sex tape safe in the knowledge that all the money will be going to the band and not some morally questionable individual.

Here’s what the duo have to say on their hastily erected new website:-

If you’re here, it’s because you want to see a sex tape made by Claire Evans and Jona Bechtolt of the band YACHT. That’s okay—we’re not here to judge. A video that we made privately has been released to the public. We have commenced legal proceedings against the individual who made it available without our consent. That said, we don’t have any illusion that this tape is ever going to vanish completely from the internet.

Instead, we’ve created a platform for you to purchase and download the video directly from us. If you absolutely must see this video, we ask that you refrain from downloading it from a torrent, or streaming it on a tube site. Controlling how this video is seen, and who profits from it, is the only form of agency we have left over this exploitative situation.

Please do the right thing. Thank you for your support.

With love and respect,
Claire and Jona
