Miguel Campbell is about to release ‘Night Drive Without You’, which is the follow-up to his excellent 2013 debut album, ‘Back In Flight School’.
‘Goldrush’ is actually one of three tracks to have been unveiled from the album, and features the vocals talents of Benjamin Diamond, who famously sung on Stardust’s ‘Music Sound Better With You’, and more recently lent his vocals to Aeroplane’s ‘Lets Get Slow’.
Channeling the vibrancy of the 80s with the slick pop of the 90s, ‘Gold Rush’ is a creamy combination of twinkling disco and Diamond’s infectious R&B twang.
‘The Music’ – which was unveiled last month (yeah, we’re slow like that) – offers something a little different; neon disco grooves set against a tightly looped vocal sample that rides on a complex acid-tinged bassline.
And, finally, today the good folks at Data Transmission premiered the latest track to be unveiled from the album, ‘The Night Life’, which features long-time collaborator Becc Lotts.
‘The Night Life’ is arguably the pick of the bunch for us – a little rawer, and more immediate, Lotts’ vocals are the perfect counter for the track’s razor-sharp bassline and doughy pads.
Look out for the album on December 11 via Campbell’s own imprint Outcross Records.
