We’ve been hearing more and more rumours about the return of Daft Punk in recent months, its been widely reported that the two robots have been recording their 4th long-play as we speak and have seemingly lined-up an all-star cast of collaborators, some more believable than others.
There was, of course, the rumour that Chic’s Nile Rodgers was going to help out; Grammy winning songwriter Paul Williams also threw his hat in the ring and the latest whispers suggest that Italian disco producer Giorgio Moroder has recorded a rap about his life for the new album.
According to Moroder, speaking at this week’s IMS in Ibiza, the French duo recorded him talking about his life in a special recording booth with multiple mics. When Moroder asked why there were so many mics he was told each mike is for each decade of his life, he then asked how would they would know which mic is which when listening back – the engineer apparently replied: “they’ll know”.
There’s no suggestion that the new, as yet unnamed, Daft Punk album will be released this year – but everything seems to be pointing to a return in 2013. Cannot. Bloody. Wait.
