Ronika’s disco star has been steadily rising since we featured her a few months ago and any thoughts that she was just a flash-in-pan has been fully knocked into touch with her next release ‘Only Only/ In The City’.
‘In The City’ in parts sounds strikingly similar to vocals laid down on Breakbot’s summer disco smash ‘Fantasy’ by Ruckazoid. It’s probably more a lyrical connection than singing style – but it’s a track that is going put Ronny on the map even more.
It’s a floor-filling and euphoric update on the urban hedonism of Inner City or Black Box: it also boasts co-production from the anonymous Citizen (who has remixed Azari & III and Adele). Imagine if Rex The Dog made disco with Madge and you’re well on the way to understanding why she is being hyped as the Madonna of the Midlands.
