Alex Standish is a producer whose track ‘Mis-step’ has picked up support from BBC Introducing — and after just one listen it’s not hard to hear why.
Featuring reversed vintage chords, the track occupies the ground between lo-fi house and disco and sees Standish fashion a playful cut of peculiar-sounding house that floats along on a bed of pulsing basslines and never-ending bleepy melodies.
It’s all rather low-key and not at all showy — and that’s probably why we liked it so much. There’s also certain Mylo quality to the playfulness of melodies, and the tiny samples that pulse in the background also add a further layer of depth to ‘Mis-step’.
More of this, please.
