Breakbot’s second album, ‘Still Waters’, is so good it’s being given the full live band treatment – a first for the funk producer – this summer across 15 dates in North America.

As well as the announcement of the group’s US tour, Breakbot and Irfane took some time out on the album’s launch day to answer fans’ questions during a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA).

Here’s the top 10 things we learnt – including how he got his name Breakbot, who he’d most like to dine out with, and what he’d bring if, god forbid, he was stuck on desert island with Bruno Mars.

1. The origin of the Breakbot name: “Bot is a nickname for Thibaut, my first name, and the Break part comes from my hunting for breaks in songs so that I could sample them.”

2. Which artist Breakbot would most like to dine with dead/alive: “Michael Jackson at In ‘N’ Out”

3. What Breakbot would bring when stuck on a desert island with Bruno Mars: “I would take a piano, a laptop, and a huge bag of weed.”

4. The favorite remix Breakbot has done: “The remix I did that I like the most is propably the one for Phoenix ‘Trying To Be Cool’. I also love the one I did for Metronomy ‘A Thing For Me’, it was my ticket to enter Ed Banger records”

5. How it feels to be called the modern day Jesus of Disco: “It feels AMAZING !”

6. Who Breakbot wants to collaborate with: “I would love to make a song with Chromeo one day ! Thanks for the nice comments !”

7. Breakbot’s best advice for young producers: “1. Don’t spend too much money on gear ! A simple laptop and a midi keyboard are cool to begin with ! 2. I was lucky enough to meet the right persons at the right time. The best way to get noticed by labels is making relevant music and work on the image.”

8. Breakbot’s favorite ride at Disneyland: “My favorite ride at Disneyland are Captain EO and Star tours. I also love the Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain.”

9. How Breakbot gets their bass sound: “the bass lines on the first record were mixes between sample cuts and plug-ins, those featured on the second album are made with a memorymoog and a real bass guitar”

10. What you should eat for dinner: “wine, cheese and slow jams”
