Jonas Rathsman is the first producer to get a release on Kompakt’s new label KX with the gut-busting ‘New Generation’.
Apparently, KX isn’t actually a Kompakt sub-label, instead it’s a “entity of its own” being run from the same warehouse and record store where Kompakt is run in Cologne.
Semantics aside, Rathsman’s ‘New Generation’ is the label’s first release and it’s arguably the Swedes best work to date, as gut-wrenching basslines rub shoulders with sculptured soundscapes and cascading top lines.
“I have been a long time supporter of Kompakt Records and really respect the artists and music they represent,” explains the producer.
“I love the concept of KX, and so excited to be releasing with them. I have been testing ‘New Generation’ for sometime now in the club, and it has become such a focal point of my sets. It has so much great feedback in my Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1, and I knew then that it had to be the next release!”
As well as Rathman’s release, KX is set to release its first compilation in mid-November where you can expect “floor burners, secret weapons and future classics” from the likes of Pieter Steijger, Luis Junior and Reinhard Voigt.
‘New Generation’ is out on vinyl October 23 and digital November 6.
