It’s probably about time we forgave Felix Da Housecat for being a bit of a wolly on Twitter when he got refused from Berghain – especially so as he’s got a new album coming out, ‘Narrative of Thee Blast Illusion’, and it’s sounding very promising.
The album’s first single (above) sees Felix back to something more akin to his early work; pop-ier, more light-hearted, and just more fun. Falling somewhere between a synth-driven power ballad and fuzzy French electro-pop, ‘Is Everything Ok’ is a bit of curveball from the house and techno producer – but it’s a good curveball.
“I’ve come to a stage in my life where I’ve proved and done everything I have done as Felix from ‘Fantasy Girl’ to through the streets of techno – so I don’t have to prove myself to the new generation. I make what I like and try not to get caught up. My intention is not to make a million from this album. It’s all about moods.”
“This one took 3 years to make. For me, an album is like a high school yearbook and so it’s an experience and a challenge,” explains Felix.
The album’s art – by renowned Techno Visual Artist, Abdul Qadim Haqq – is the final piece of the album puzzle. It features three characters – NOSTALGIA, HEROINE and PARADOX. “These 3 characters are going to be part of the illusion and these songs are all a narrative of my life,” explains Felix. “And they’re blasting me with it!!!”
