Brussels producer Mickey teams up with Toronto-based vocalist Jeremy Glenn for a new single ‘Heartstrings’, which is out now via Smile Recordings, and comes with a remix from UK house duo Aashton and Swift.

Mickey’s remix of Sebastien Tellier’s ‘Sedulous’ is, for us, a marquee moment for the Belgian producer. Everyone knows Mickey is a bonafide talent, but unfortunately 2012 has seen numerous disco producers move away from the flamboyant, gleaming end of the disco sprectrum to the darker deeper recesses of the genre.
There are lots of producers in Belgium. Some you’ll certainly know about: Aeroplane, Villa, Soulwax et al – then there are some who have been on the fringes of the disco mafia.
The fine folks at Moda have just uploaded the entire Punks Jump Up ‘Mr Overtime’ EP to soundcloud. First of all, check out the fantastic club remix, which for us is already contender for song of the year. It takes the funk hooks of the original straight to the club, with throbbing drums, twanging basslines and plenty beep-y bleep-y goodness.
Disco protege Mickey is going from strength to strength in 2012 – and to this end – he’s done a fantastic remix of the next Housse De Racket single ‘Chateau’ which is out via Kitsune soon.
Belgium disco man Mickey has uploaded his new mixtape which is full of the spoils of winter disco – grab it now and stay warm.
More disco delights are heading are way from new label Smile Recordings. After the release of their EP ‘Tribal Dance’ through Relish Recordings, Montevideo are back with a stunning follow up single ‘Horses’ recorded at the ‘DFA’ studios in New York.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say there seems to be hundreds of remixes of Tyson’s ‘Die On The Dancefloor’ floating around the internet.
Disco-man Dirk De Ruyck, who was the man behind the now defunct Abracada and the head of AR for Icelandic label Eskimo, is starting a new label called Smile Recordings.
Disco newcomer Mickey has just dropped his latest mixtape and from the tracklisting it’s look very good indeed, you can expect to hear Peter & The Magician ‘Twist’ and Monarchy’s ‘I Won’t Let You Go’ amongst others.
The wise and clever Magician has been tipping Belgium house and disco dude Mickey for great things in 2011, and we whole heartedly agree. Proof can be found in his latest mixtape – you can expect to hear tracks from Moullinex, Xinobi, Siriusmo and Beth Ditto to name a few. The intro is just sublime the first 3 tracks just blew us away – were off to Beatport hunting with his tracklist in hand.
That’s right the secretive Tyson is ready to show the world his face – well kind of. And to our surprsie he looks like a James Bond villain. We aren’t surprised he’s got a picture now – he’s probably fed-up of having pictures of ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson – anyway who wants to be that ear-eating-looney.
So we all loved Mickey’s remix of Tyson’s ‘Die On The Dancefloor’ right ? Well, now you can grab the remix for free – not too shabby at all.
Just a quick post to say Happy New Year, and to give you lot a lovely mix from new Belgium producer Mickey, who just so happens to be managed by the same guy who looks after fellow Belgium disco cohorts Aeroplane and Villa – so the signs are looking very good.
