Gawp & Bang Tidy have spoilt us rotten with their latest cut of heaving house

Our good friends at Night Shift Sound are in the throes of releasing their second ever compilation, ‘Night Shift Sound Vol.2’, which will combine label favourites from the last 12 months, some compilation exclusives and a couple of surprises.

We’ve got a lot of love for one of the first tracks to be unveiled from the compilation, which comes from Gawp and Bang Tidy. Gawp is on a roll at the moment having recently signed a track to Claude Vonstroke’s Dirtybird for the label’s forthcoming Dirtybird BBQ compilation, which is coming out on May 19.

Bang Tidy are also doing excellent things at the moment, too, and currently has one of the biggest club records in New Zealand at present — ‘Wondering Why’, released on Night Shift Sound in January — so you’d expect a collaboration from the two would properly hit the spot and you’d be absolutely right.

‘Spoilt Rotten’ brings to mind the jackin’ house vogue of the mid-naughties pioneered by the likes of Sinden and Switch. Taking ‘Spoilt Rotten’ to the chopping board the duo set the groundwork with a propulsive backbone thanks to stocky kicks and then slather the rest of the track in chopped vocal samples and brain-melting hooks.

A proper club heater in every sense of the word.

More of this, please.

Taken from Northern Power House Vol. 2. Out 12th May.
