Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting 2 will be begin filming this month, and to celebrate Sony Pictures have put together a teaser trailer.
The drug-fuelled film was huge success when it was released way back in 1996 catapulting the careers of Danny Boyle, Ewan McGregor and Robert Carlyle.
The new trailer doesn’t contain any new footage (understandable considering filming only begins this month) but does confirm that all the original cast members will return for the sequel.
The film will be loosely based on Irvine Welsh’s novel sequel Porno, which sees the group of friends entangled in the vice industry, whereas the original film followed five friends who battled heroin addiction.
If you’ve never seen the original here’s what’s it’s all about…
Heroin addict Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) stumbles through bad ideas and sobriety attempts with his unreliable friends — Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), Begbie (Robert Carlyle), Spud (Ewen Bremner) and Tommy (Kevin McKidd). He also has an underage girlfriend, Diane (Kelly Macdonald), along for the ride. After cleaning up and moving from Edinburgh to London, Mark finds he can’t escape the life he left behind when Begbie shows up at his front door on the lam, and a scheming Sick Boy follows.
