Banksy’s Dismaland looks, well, dismal in the latest trailer for the spoof theme park which has been created in Weston-Super-Mare by the controversial street artist.
The pseudo theme park will be open for 5 weeks, and will play host to a range of musicians including Run The Jewels, Sleaford Mods, Savages and Massive Attack.
Massive Attack’s inclusion isn’t a big surprise, they recently soundtracked Adam Curtis’ throughly depressing documentary at MIF two years ago.
It consisted of a sprawling 90-minute a/v lecture on why everything is bad, and why mankind’s progression has been paralysed by the emergence of capitalism, globalisation and media-induced fear.
It was incredibly depressing – and not particularly fun – and you kinda get the impression that Banksy’s Dismaland might be something similar; a warped reflection of the very worst of modern society. Or it could just as easily be a stroke of sarcastic genius – we just don’t know.
