Aeroplane returns to Ghent-based imprint Eskimo Recordings for his first EP of the year – and the wait has been more than worth it.

Moving away from his balearic/disco sound, ‘Page One Is Love’ sees Vito De Luca try and recapture what made him fall in love with early house records from New York and Chicago, namely their simplicity.

“In both songs I wanted to try to emulate elements of some early house records I love. Specifically, the simple yet elaborate chords riffs, which are what I’ve always been most drawn to,” explains the producer.

The title track, ‘Page One Is Love’ is a piano-laden house number that does exactly that, as it floats along on a bed of undulating basslines, euphoric vocal samples and luminescent disco hooks.

But it’s actually, ‘Dancing With Each Other’ – the release’s b-side – which stands-out the most for us, mainly due to the fact that it’s a little bit more complex, and leans a bit more to the disco end of the house spectrum.

Remixes-wise, Ten Ven flips ‘Dancing With Each Other’ into a different beast entirely, adding more complex drums lines and generally darkens the overall tone of the original into something far more menacing and purposeful.

Whilst, CASSARA turns ‘Page One Is Love’ into a French touch-inspired cut with stodgy basslines and looping piano lines, and plenty of the original’s soulful vocal.
