The Six are described as “a fusion of producers, writers and musicians with a mutual adoration for evocative melodies laced with modern dance production”. They’re actually described as a “collective” in the press release too, but collective is a horrible word, so group will do just fine for now.
Anyway, we actually know one of the members, Richard Boardman, who was part of the now defunct Delphic. He’s now striding out on his own into the world of producing, having featured on a track with Gorgon City, and co-writing Clean Bandit’s ‘Real Love’.
The Six are giving away ‘Nothing In The World’ as a precursor to the group’s forthcoming single ‘Don’t Go Running’ which will be released via Black Butter Records.
‘Nothing In The World’ shows a lot of promise; it’s stunningly produced, radio-friendly, and is loosely based in the realms of up-lifting house music – so it ticks all the right boxes then. But we can’t help but feel that dance music shouldn’t really be a box-ticking exercise.
Anyway, it’s a very promising start and we look forward to hearing more from the Six in the coming months.
