Over 1,600 cannabis plants have been found inside a disused Warrington nightclub over the weekend.

The haul was uncovered at former nightclub Club Wired – where police officers are said to have found the sophisticated operation.

Apparently the police estimate that the factory could have generated a staggering £6 million a year.

Police have arrested two men, aged 48 and 34, as well as two youths, who all been arrested in connection with the incident.

Inspector Richie Watts from Warrington Town NPU told the Manchester Evening News: “This was a significant find and fortunately, we have been able to put a stop to it. Over 1,600 Cannabis plants of varying stages of growth have been recovered from inside the premises. This is a great result as we believe that these drugs could well have been destined for the streets of Warrington or further afield.
