German duo The/Das will release their new single ‘Miami Waters‘ on August 25. The song is taken from duo’s debut album ‘Freezer‘ which will be out on August 18 via Sinnbuss.
Those of you who know the German indie scene will probably know that The/Das is made up of Fabian Fenk and Anton K. Feist, who fronted the excellent Bodi Bill. During their time as Bodi Bill the band released four albums, two of which we reviewed, and picked up quite a following in their native Germany, and beyond.
The duo’s new single, ‘Miami Waters’, doesn’t depart too far from what we loved about Bodi Bill to be fair. Fabian Fenk’s voice is still as captivating as it was ‘Two In One’, as scratchy percussion lines to-and-fro between Fenk’s heartfelt vocals and warm, summery chords.
The story behind the video is an interesting one too, it focuses on one of Anton Feist’s ancestors: the late Friedrich Feist, who was a sailor and wanderlust vagabond who found himself washed up on the shores of a deserted coastline.
Inspired by Anton’s family legend, The/Das hunted looked for, and found, an abandoned resort complex deep in the wilds of the Mediterranean coast. This is where the captain, the video’s hero, reclaims his true and only love: the salty seashore and the rise and fall of the tide.
