Mason dropped their new EP yesterday, and although ‘San Remo‘ is the title-track, frankly, I’m incredulous that ‘Earmark‘ isn’t the A-side.

San Remo‘ is big, brash and fun, but ‘Earmark‘ has so much more to it – the identifying features (or earmarks – see what I did there) being an intro that’s all kick and a melody that’s more infectious than rabies.

The customary Animal Language ‘refurb’ is worth a mention for novelty value. Whether it was actually performed by 7-year olds with recorders is a matter for debate – what’s certain is that it’s great to see a label consistently putting out fun little extras on their EPs, coupled with quirky artwork that ties all the releases together.
