Sankeys has announced a slew of opening parties to celebrate the return of one of Manchester’s most important clubbing institutions with 2 Many DJs, Darius Syrossian and Lee Burridge are all set to christen a new chapter in the club’s 19 year history.
Having closed the venue indefinitely due to several issues, it was thought that Sankeys was gone forever – but after a successful season in Ibiza, and the opening of Sankeys New York, Sankeys is returning to its spiritual home.
Speaking about the re-opening, David Vincent said: “We honestly did not know whether the club was ever going to open again when we shut it back in May.
“We had to overcome various major financial difficulties caused by certain elements, and even a court case to win the club back.
“When I said the club was closing back in April I always said the club would be shutting down indefinitely and did not know what the future held.
“There seems to be some confusion about what the term ‘indefinitely’ means. The definition is that it is not a definite time or clear time period.
“Unfortunately some people like to manipulate my words to their own stupid gains or clearly do not understand English. I’m just really happy for Manchester that Sankeys is returning to its spiritual home,” he added.
Semantics aside, Sankeys have enlisted a veritable smorgasbord of electronic delights to welcome the club back to the rainy streets of Manchester, with the opening night, Friday December 20, welcoming Darius Syrossian, Audiofly, Seb Zito & Rossko, Mosca, Winter Son Live, Gerardo & Hapson, Sian Bennett, El Eye Vee and Mora.
The second leg on Saturday, December 21, sees Dyed Soundorom, Andrea Oliva, Lee Burridge, DJ W!ld, Chappell, Mind Against, BONES, Mykel Haze and The Elemen.
On Boxing Day, VIVa Music head honcho Steve Lawler will be leading the charge for a special VIVa Warriors showcase, then on Saturday December 28, Sankeys will welcome one of electronic music’s biggest acts through their doors as 2manyDJs pitch up for a night of sonic debauchery.
Driving the party into 2014 on New Year’s Eve will be Enzo Siragusa, founder of highly regarded underground music institution Fuse.
