This summer we were lucky enough to see James Murphy and 2 Many DJs perform on a custom-made vinyl-only sound system called Despacio, and now it’s been confirmed it’s coming to London for just two days.

The trio announced that Despacio will be coming to London’s Hammersmith Town Hall on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 December, 2013.

Created by Murphy, the Dewaele brothers and McIntosh, it’s thought the sound system cost £750,000 to make, and was originally conceived to be used for a night in Ibiza where the trio would play records between 95 and 115 bpm.

The Ibiza night didn’t take off for whatever reason and the trio were approached by MIF to bring the concept to Manchester’s bi-annual International Festival.

The 7 enormous 11-foot speaker stacks are positioned in a circle surrounding the audience in the center, who are then given a lovely chequered dancefloor to throw as many disco shapes as possible.

Tickets go on general sale at 9am on Friday 1 November.
