Steve Aoki and DJ Tiesto To Open University of Bass In LA

Steve Aoki and DJ Tiesto will open the world’s first EDM school called the University of Bass this week. The new university has been funded by the BPSA, the Bass Protection Society of America, the world’s first EDM pressure group setup by both Tiesto and Steve Aoki.

The BPSA was setup by the two DJs as they were concerned their image was been tarnished by the mainstream media ‘s prejudice against bass music. The BPSA is the world’s first fully recognised bass pressure group and charity.

The University of Bass will have a state-of-the studio in the heart of LA, and will offer diploma’s in Nexus bass mixing, bass outreach and drop techniques.

The University of Bass chose LA as its location as it has become the bass capital of the world in recent years, due in-part to the rise in sales of bass boxes. This year there were more bass boxes sold per capita in LA than anywhere in the world.

Vice Chancellor DJ Tiesto, who who will open the University with a special bass set this week, spoke to us about the discrimination against bass music community in the mainstream music press, he said: “We feel that bass producers are being discriminated against and it’s about time someone stood up for this vibrant community”.

He added: “Generation bass in the future of dance music and BPSA and the University of Bass will secure thousands of American jobs in the bass industry for many years to come.”

3.O.F are part of the Side Chain Gang, or by their street name the “SGC” – they were the first LA gang to bring the bass to LA corners and have been credited with turning around the lives of numerous gang members in LA.

LA native Vice made it into the University of Bass after he dropped his banger ‘Breathe’ during at set at the Church of Bass: Dim Mak Studios – impressing both Aoki and Tiesto with his bass credentials.
