US hip hop up-and-comer Rye Rye has track out this week, she’s been tipped for big things with her “nu-hop” sound – which apparently does away with the negative connotations of rap and hip hop and is throwing a fresh, unique, dance fuelled, fun direction into the mix.
Whether this is just PR guff is not totally clear, but she’s helping her cause by getting electro chap Burns to do a remix of her latest single and is giving it away for free. And she’s got the Robyn involved in the track too, which always adds an air credibility to its electro credentials.
The resulting track is a fusion of hip hop and electro that we actually aren’t completely offended by. So it’s actually quite could. (maybe the rapping is a bit much, but can’t be helped as that’s what Rye Rye is all about). Burns can certainly hold his head up high. Whether Rye Rye can do the same remains to be seen.
