Shinichi Osawa has a new album out, it’s a remixes version of his So:2 album and has got a plethora of up-and-coming artists to breathe new life into the the tracks. We know this because blogger dudes TMS got in contact to say that they had helped in making the CD possible. Think they were in charge of making the tea and vegetarian snacks.
So,we thought we would run through some of the tracks, which was out this week in the land of the rising sun Japan.
First up, we have peaktime banger “Zingaro” remixed by The Kids Are Radioactive. It’s a peak-time track in the nicest possible way. Gypsy synths and nice and round kick combine to make a decent electro tune.
Moving on, we have chosen the Cosmonaut Grechko remix of “Heart Goes Boom” it starts of with some effortless smooth elevator music. Then progresses into some lovely smooth disco house. Cosmonaut is a Russian dude who tipped for big things and this track is getting support from The Magician and Might Mouse. Enought said.
Next up, Allen Walker tries to take “Love Will Guide You” down to SebastiAns house, but sadly it’s SebastiAn is there, but the remix is cool if not a bit schitzo – we like a bit of mad in Manchester though.
Keenhouse have produced a lovely 80’s inspired pumping remix of “Zingaro” – we love the hook. That is all.
Gemini Club remind us that they are musicians first, and this comes across with their remix of “Love Will Guide You” a lovely blend of Soulwax percussion and Delphic precision. Gemini Club are going to be big in 2011.
And to finish off, Edwin Van Cleef – does his usual disco stuff with “Love Will Guide You” and makes really good vocal-workout.
SO2: Remixes on iTunes.
