Update: We’ve been sent a shocking video that can only be described as a mock (we hope) kidnapping of an Elastic Artists’ creative director by Manchester collective LEVELZ, who reckon they’re owed £400,000 by the agency.
WHERE’S OUR MONEY ELASTIC ARTISTS?!? WE’VE NOT GOT THIS MONTHS…LEVELZ KIDNAP ELASTIC ARTISTS’ CREATIVE DIRECTORFOR ATTENTION OF Elastic Artists

DJ booking agency Elastic Artists – which looks after the likes of Dixon, Maxi Soundsystem, Kiwi and Marcus Marr – is facing closure after it was reported that the agency has been withholding payments owed to DJs.
The agency – which is based in Islington, London – represents a client roster of over 150 artists from the UK, Europe, USA and Asia, and handles over 5000 performance agreements per year.
A letter sent to its clients explaining the delays in payments – which has been seen by Resident Advisor – states: “Elastic Artists is currently experiencing financial difficulties which have meant we are unable to release monies to clients for shows that have already taken place.
“We are exploring options to restore the company’s liquidity and to transfer the ownership of the business to a new team.”
The letter goes on to explain that none of the “existing team of agents nor the company’s management are in any way implicated in the current problems, and none were privy to the underlying options until the past few days.”
Clearly, in the run up to Christmas it is never a nice situation when anyone is owed money for services that they have already supplied.
DJs and artists understandably have taken to social media to vent their frustration (some maybe a bit too much) about the agency.
Hopefully, Elastic Artists will be able to return to a better financial footing in the near future and the DJs and artists who are owed money get paid.
I can’t even buy afford to buy a coffee today. big thanks to: @elasticartists
