Sci-fi buff and all round analog fanatic Andy Meecham (aka The Emperor Machine) has a brand new album on its way via Southern Fried Records on May 19.

To soften the wait he’s also released a 12″ single, containing the fantastic ‘RMI Is All I Want‘, coupled with a remix by Erol Alkan.

The funky bassline and straight-up drums of the original give this a real bounce. Imagine a squad of troopers marching in step across a barren alien world, with the sun blaring down and vivid and psychedelic colours bursting all around them.

While the original is very much a song for a sunny day, the Erol Alkan re-work takes a darker turn.

The track keeps the grit, but loses the bounce. There’s still power in this version, but it lacks any feel of that warm analog friendliness, and suffers as a result.
