Bolis Pupul probably isn’t a name you’ve heard before – and that’s fine, but we can guarantee once you’ve heard his new record on DEEWEE (2 Many DJs’/Soulwax label) you’ll be a fan for life.
Apparently, he met the Soulwax via MySpace and then in real life when they were touring the far east. They suggested he should start making music, and so he did and he’s now a full-fledged member of the DEEWEE family.
This is actually his second outing on DEEWEE, and it falls somewhere between rubbery electro and acid-flecked disco, with a healthy dollop of that DEEWEE gloopiness we all know and love.
“We met Bolis in 2006 via MySpace, and then later in real life when we toured Asia. To escape the unbearable boredom of his native Macao, Bolis has decided to try his hand at making electronic music, inspired by a Jean-Michel Jarre concert and we have been staying in touch for all these years.
“This record is the result of Bolis’ visit to DEEWEE in Ghent where he was enchanted by the world of analogue synths.”
