The Weeknd has announced the release of his third studio album ‘Starboy’ alongside the album’s title track which features Daft Punk.

When we say “features Daft Punk” you’d be hard pressed to actually hear their influence; there’s no real talkbox action a la their collaboration with Pharrell, but instead the track is a mechanical-sounding cut of r’n’b with just a hint of Daft Punk’s iconic production.

That’s not the to say the track is bad, though we’ve got to admit it is a little underwhelming on first inspection. It could be that the robots are simply on production duties, or – and far more likely – they didn’t want to hog all the limelight. But even then it still doesn’t exhibit the same sort of pop potential of Abel Tesfaye’s breakbout track  ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ and certainly doesn’t sound like a traditional Daft Punk track.

The album features 18 tracks and will be released on November 25.
