Monday Club consists of former Cosmonaut Paul Sidoli and Medicine 8’s Luke May, but you probably already knew that as we premiered one of their first ever tracks last year.
Well, since then they’ve released on Black Butter Records, and now on Steve Lawler’s VIVA Music. The ‘Blackout’ EP features three originals – ‘Footprints’, ‘Blackout’, ‘Girls Jacking’ – and a remix from Luke Solomon.
It’s just a wild stab in the dark, but we wouldn’t be surprised if messrs Sidoli and May spent some time at Manchester’s acid institution The Hacienda.
It’s just a hunch, but everything from the acid synths to the Mancunian croons on ‘Footprints’ sound like they’re lifted directly from the Whitworth Street West venue.
It’s not all glow-sticks and boiler suits though, ‘Girls Jacking’ and ‘Blackout’ offer up a decent counter to the overly acid-y ‘Footprints’, whilst Luke Solomon turns in particularly quirky remix.
One for the purists.
