Monte is the moniker of German producer Monte Cito – and the Hamburg-based producer is about to releasee his latest 80s inspired EP via Jeudi Records, and it’s a belter.

Split across two originals and four tracks, the German producer’s latest EP, ‘Canvas‘, falls squarely into 80s nostalgia – but if you dig a little deeper there’s also references to Kraftwerk and more modern sounding electronic music, too.

Bubblegum‘, the EPs opener, is the perfect balance between snarling basslines and Vangelis builds – and if you want a even more cinematic experience then you also get a “theme” version, which is the same track but reimagined as movie soundtrack.

The EP’s b-side is as equally exciting, again you can hear the German producer’s trademark basslines against techy percussion and swirling synths.

Compared to the day-glow plastic EDM that’s being peddled around at the moment, Monte’s vision of the future stands out a mile.

All-in-all a very good EP.

Out December 15.
