Francesco ‘Phra’ Barbaglia, aka Crookers, returns with his second single of 2014, the face-pummelling ‘Heavy’, which is out March 23 via the Phra’s label Ciao Rec, alongside remixes from Hybrid Theory and Donovans

“Heavy is one of my favourites tracks to play out”, Phra explains. “It always gets an awesome reaction and people ask what track this is. It’s definitely not for the faint hearted!”

We grabbed 60 seconds with Phra couple of weeks ago, and today we’ve also got the exclusive on Hybrid Theory’s remix, which remoulds ‘Heavy‘ into 90s acrid house throwback, with just hint of the duo’s famed bass roots.

You’ve just released your new single ‘Ghetto Guetta’, was this a tribute to David Guetta or something different?
It’s not a tribute but a word game “Ghetto Guetta” and the song reflects this word game.

You’ve started a new label, Ciao Records, can you tell a little bit about it, is it a new home for Crookers releases only, or a more traditional label setup?
Ciao Recs is the home of the Crookers sound… I’ll release new Crookers material on it and anything that fits in my Crookers sets. As Crookers has never been part of a “proper” genre, Ciao Recs is a “non genre record label” LOL.

What have you got planned for the rest of the year?
Release an album and do as much charity work as possible.

What’s the best thing about being Italian and a DJ?
The best thing about being Italian is actually being Italian, and the best thing about being an Italian DJ reflects the first thing.

What’s the worst thing about being Italian and a DJ?
It’s still really hard for me to think/speak/write in English.

Have you ever been or played at a bunga bunga party?

If Crookers were a sandwich what would it be?
A pretty simple sandwich made with the very best quality produce.

Crookers new single ‘Heavy’ will be out March 23 via Ciao Recs.
