Sohight ‘Fonk’

French label On The Fruit is prepping a new EP from Russian retro futuristic funk producer Sohight. The aptly name ‘Fonk’ has everything you’d expect from modern-day piece of funk: gleaming synths? Check. Catchy vocals? Check. Sounds French? Check.

There’s also a dollop of hip hop in there, too, as well electro and disco. But crucially, it never sounds trite, or too obvious. It’s just a very well produced piece of disco funk.

Even more intriguing is there’s a remix from The Earl of Grey which is the solo moniker of Danny Ashden of C90′s fame.
