Fashionably late to this, but Shit Robot’s new EP is definitely worth checking out – it’s very DFA, well that’s kinda obvious as it’s being released on DFA today digitally and on vinyl.

Let us paint a picture for you: imagine Shit Robot, jaded after 30 shows in 20 days, messing around in the studio making music – he’s not making a hit, he’s far too tired for that, but just jamming – that’s kinda how we see ‘Teenage Bass’ – it’s never quite hits a point where it’s gonna drop but the unique percussion is so mesmerising it keeps you listening from start to finish.

The second half of the new EP is a different beast entirely – caustic synths repeating to the point of annoyance, throw in some chatty percussion and plenty of white noise and it all becomes a bit too much – but a night in shiny futuristic armour saves the day with a mesmerising space-age synth lead that seems to tie the whole track together.

The EP is the first in a series of releases called The Green Machine, which will culminate in an new album early next year.
